Of all the natural stones, marble is probably the most sought after and luxurious. Perhaps this is because of its sleek and shiny appearance, or the character provided by its naturally occurring veins. Marble is a popular natural stone for use in both hallways and bathrooms, and many more rooms besides. What's more, there are plenty of variations of marble: one to suit every type of home.
Part of the appeal of marble is its ability to bring the wow factor into a home. This is never more the case than when using a striking pattern of monochromatic marble stone flooring. For example, think about using brick shaped tiles laid in an alternative zigzag pattern to create a stunning entrance way.
Beautiful platinum coloured marble is an excellent way of adding a touch of glamour to a room. With a brushed and polished finish, the cool grey tones help to create a relaxing feel in any bathroom or wet room, and will add a sleek, contemporary finish to any kitchen. For extra glamour points, add coordinating marble mosaic stone tiles for a touch of interest.
Don't just think that natural stone, and in particular, marble, comes in a standard beige colour: there are lots of rich, warm stone tiles in deeper shades too. Tones such as cappuccino, honey and walnut are available in marble tiles to add warmth to any room. This is particularly useful if you have a west-facing bathroom, as natural light will be at a minimum of a morning when the room is mostly in use; warm shades will help to counteract any coldness felt in the room's decor.
Probably the most popular use of marble is in large format tiles for stone flooring. Large stone tiles in neutral shades will instantly make a room look bigger. Tile ranges such as Nova Honed Marble and Botticino Marble are excellent choices for large format stone tiles, and have a classic natural stone look. Add interest to large tiles by incorporating smaller tiles – such as an area tiled in marble brick tiles – to create a feature zone.
